It opens and closes based on the pressure difference between the clean and dirty sides of the filter. When the pressure difference exceeds a certain threshold, the pneumatic valve opens, allowing air to flow through the filter. When the pressure difference decreases below a certain threshold, the pneumatic valve closes, preventing air from flowing through the filter.
